Creativity in Education Discussion: Sir Ken Robinson: How Do Schools Suffocate Creativity?

“Education is meant to take us into the future we can’t grasp”

Creativity should be treated as literacy in education. It is the process of having original ideas. Schools have the tendency to feel like factories that pump out the same results for every student but if they don’t have an imagination then they can’t really grow. People are too concerned with the getting to right answer, which stifles creativity and innovation. Getting A’s doesn’t mean you necessarily understand or that you are necessarily brilliant. Intelligence is so diverse and certain people don’t get A’s because they have severe test anxiety or struggle with issues they're facing outside of school.
