Constructivism
The theory of constructivism is a philosophical approach to education that recognizes the learners' understanding and knowledge based on their own experiences prior to entering school. This means that students construct knowledge out of their experiences in an active learning process. The role of the instructor in this case should shift to the role of a facilitator of discussion, debate, mental exercises, and encouraging students to ask each other questions.

Constructivism, covers a broad spectrum of research overlapping with cognitivism, contends that learning involves each individual learner making sense and constructing knowledge within his or her own context; it finds its foundation interpretivism. -Siemens
