The four design principles; contrast, alignment, repetition, and proximity are interconnected and should be considered all together when designing content. The most important might be contrast because it creates the most visual attraction. Alignment ensures your design is crisp and fresh. Think of the ubiquitous simplicity in Apple products and their mass appeal. Repetition helps develop organization and create the feel of unity. And proximity helps reduce clutter and help focus your audience to the important bits. Using this handy guide will help you if you are a designer of any kind whether it be online or in a classroom. For more information, I recommend chapter six of Presentation Zen: Simple Ideas on Presentation Design and Delivery by Garr Reynolds and the following video. Thanks for reading!
